It may be summer league, but the buzz around rookie Lonzo Ball has ramped up the intrigue for the Lakers, who beat Dallas, 108-98, on Sunday to advance to Monday’s championship game against Portland at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Ball finished with 16 points, 10 assists and 4 rebounds, but checked out with 6:26 left in the third quarter due to tightness in his right calf and did not return.
“It’s the first time my calf (was) that tight so it was just being cautious,” Ball said. “I wanted to get back out there but the training staff took care of me and I will be with them tonight and tomorrow and hopefully I’ll be out there tomorrow.”
