Dr. Maurice J. Oakley has spent 38 years looking out for the well-being of patients as a physician in Ashland.
This past week, Oakley received what is arguably the most prestigious recognition possible for Kentucky physicians when the ophthalmologist was named the new president of the Kentucky Medical Association. He is only the second person from this area to be named to the position in the last half-century, following in the footsteps of Dr. Walter Cawood, who was head of the KMA all the way back in 1969.
“I just love being able to take care of the patients,” Oakley said. “I love being a surgeon. I went into medicine because I always felt like that’s where I belong.”
