Hands-on training prepares cadets for law enforcement careers – St. Augustine Record

It was a busy day at St. Johns River State College. There was a car stop, a CPR incident, a case of domestic abuse and other run-ins with law enforcement.

While the scenarios that played out appeared realistic — from the flashing lights of a patrol car to the handcuffs used on a driver removed from his vehicle — they were actually part of an exercise last week on the St. Augustine campus to test students in the Criminal Justice Academy on their response to common service calls. Throughout the day, cadets rotated through various real-life situations and were evaluated by actual law enforcement officers on how they handled those situations.
